We’re in the finals! We can’t wait for this week’s Analytics & AI Awards 2022, where we’ve been selected as finalists in the Analytics Innovation category.
It recognises the fantastic work done by everyone involved in our project to predict the impact of weather on quality of service (QoS) in mobile networks. This year’s awards will take place in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday, June 16.
The Analytics & AI Awards were established to celebrate excellence in Ireland’s data profession. The Analytics Innovation award recognises achievement in “the use of a progressive, analytics-based approach to solve a business challenge or to create new business opportunities.”
The awards take into consideration the challenge a project addressed, the innovation involved and the outcome that was achieved. The winners in each category will be chosen by their peers.
We’ll be going up against Glanbia Foods, AON, eShopWorld and CIM in this year’s final.
Our submission addresses a specific challenge for the telecoms industry. The relentless demand for mobile internet continues to place ever-increasing pressure on communication service provider infrastructure. At the same time, maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) remains a major factor in customer churn prevention.
We set out to forecast received signal level (RSL), an important indicator of mobile internet QoS.
We applied time-series analysis to network features such as antenna height and transmission distance while also factoring in external weather conditions like temperature, humidity, and precipitation.
Our work resulted in QoS predictions with 84% accuracy up to seven days in advance. That forecast is long enough to give network operators time to take corrective actions to improve the QoS.
We delivered this capability through VisiMetrix™, our network service analytics product used by leading communication service providers like Vodafone, Three, eir, and NBI.
Keep up to date with all our latest projects in our blog. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to the upcoming awards ceremony.
Fingers crossed!
