Case study: Software engineering collaboration to increase capacity

Yahoo! is a global internet player providing various digital brands, products, and services to consumers, advertisers, publishers, and subscribers worldwide.

The challenge

The client had a need for a software services partner to add significant additional capacity to its core engineering team on a flexible and cost efficient basis.

The supplier was required to have a track record of delivery in providing a service of scale to large multinational companies in challenging technology domains.

The solution

Sonalake provided a flexible service to the client by developing software modules on a fixed project basis and against stringent quality standards. The service is based upon a high touch engagement with the client and its technology environment through Sonalake’s local development centre.

Sonalake also built a large nearshore development team in order to augment our client’s core engineering capacity in a lower cost but high quality environment. Several teams have been established across a number of technology domains including Java, C++, a number of JavaScript frameworks and QA/Test Automation.

The result

A highly effective working relationship was established with our client locally resulting in several successful software module deliveries and integrations into its core platform.

A significant team augmentation was achieved over a short space of time in an established technology hub in Central Eastern Europe with a strong supply of engineering talent, relieving the challenge of recruiting at scale in the competitive American and Irish markets.

The Sonalake teams integrated seamlessly into the engineering processes and quality standards of client, achieving a very positive collaborative experience.
